Practicing new skills

The zone conference was a big boost. John enjoyed seeing all the missionaries again and meeting the new Elders. Elder Causee was a visiting general authority at the Zone Conference. He was an excellent speaker. He challenged the missionaries to be bold in their teaching. Bold meaning to follow the spirit and say what the spirit would have you say, not bold as in loud and pushy. In one of the contacts they met with, the woman felt the church was too american and wasn't that interested. American church, american prophet etc.... But John pointed out that one of he prophets counselors was german. She accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon and they hope she takes the opportunity to read it. Samir is a member who is a great help to the missionaries and helps when ever he can by going on exchanges and other chores. It is a blessing to have willing helpers in the cause of the gospel.

The work moves on in Maribor. Elder John is having opportunities to teach and gaining confidence with the language slowly ,but surely. He finds that sometimes as he is talking on the phone, a picture will come into his mind of what he should say in response and that helps him put the Slovene words together. The missionaries, one companionship of Elders and one of Sisters, are a big support to the ward. John indicates that they sing at most sacrament meetings. One of the times he tried to accompany them on the piano using the one hand method. He feels it was all right and he is thinking about using one of the keyboards to practice on. He expressed his appreciation for the young members of the church there who help the members and missionaries so much.
